Meals on Wheels
Esperance Home Care is able to provide home made meals every weekday to eligible clients, as well as a freshly frozen meals for the weekend. Our varied menu consists of soup, a main meal and a sweet. Meals can be adapted to suit your individual dietary requirements.

History
Esperance Home Care was established on the 22nd August 1988 through the commitment and dedication of a group of community members whose primary aim had been the establishment of a local nursing home.
The request to access funding for a community nursing home was made in 1987 with an unexpected response from the Government who wanted to see local community based home care services in operation before they would consider this application further. Community member and local health champion Mrs Alva Courtis travelled to Kalgoorlie to attend a seminar and find out what these community services were all about.
In order to determine the need for the service a survey was carried out to find out how many people over the age of 70 lived in the whole South East Region including Ravensthorpe, Hopetoun and Norseman. While the Department considered the numbers low, and felt it would be difficult to find enough people in need of services, a meeting was held in Council Chambers on the 8th of August 1988 where it was resolved that the Esperance Home and Community Care Advisory Committee Council would be established to develop the policy direction for the organisation, with Council to act as the sponsoring body and provide financial management support.
The service commenced with an operating budget of $51,000, a Coordinator position, part time office assistant and a part time housekeeper offering housekeeping, shopping, social support, gardening and transport. Sports House in James Street was the original premises with a move to Lotteries House and finally the establishment of all of our services at the current site in Black Street.
